I started writing a number of years ago because I felt I had a lot to say. I've finally run out of gas.
My friend Nick Thomas died after becoming unconscious swimming the English Channel a few hours before his 45th birthday. I was asked by a reporter in his home today for my thoughts. I said that he was the measure of what others should aspire to: he could swim fast, he could swim far & thrive in tough conditions with determined enthusiasm. He was the best. I'll miss you.
